This week will see a change in leadership for Mercy Partners.
Mr Garry Everett, who has been Acting Chair since the retirement of Sr Anne Hetherington in June, has now retired. The new Chair will be Dr Ray Campbell, and the new Deputy Chair will be Sr Sandra Lupi. Ray is a foundational member of the Council and has been Acting Deputy Chair for the last six months. Sr Sandra joined the Council two years ago, prior to her concluding her term as Congregational Leader of the Brisbane Sisters of Mercy. Our congratulations to both on their appointments. They are committed to developing strong collaborative relationships with all our ministries, as Mercy Partners enters its next stage of development.
Emeritus Professor Peter Sheehan has also retired as a foundation Councillor of Mercy Partners. He has made a great contribution to these early years of the Council’s development. We acknowledge and pay tribute to the enormous contribution to the Council and to Mercy Partners of both Garry and Peter, in the critical first five years of establishment. Our prayers go with them as they journey differently in helping to bring about the Kingdom of God.
Another retirement is that of Sr Carmel Dwan, the foundational Co-ordinator of Mercy Partners Formation Programs. The Council has appointed Dr Caroline Thompson to the position of Director of Formation Program, a full time position beginning in February 2015. Caroline brings thirty-five years of work in Catholic Ministry to her new position. She is currently Chair of the Presentation Associate Movement, as well as being the Leader of Pedagogy, at St Patrick’s College at Murwillumbah. We wish Caroline every success in her new role, and are confident that she will build close working relationships with our ministries.
