St Ursula's College, Yeppoon
St Ursula's College Ltd is a Catholic boarding and day school located near the ocean, 40 kilometres from Rockhampton. It offers secondary education to girls and young women.
History of the ministry
The Presentation Sisters established a two-storey convent in Queen Street, Yeppoon in 1917, with St Joseph’s Primary School on the Ground floor. Within the next 12 months, the need for specialised education for young women became apparent. On 12 March 1918, St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon came into being. In 1922, a new building was erected which became the Convent. This building still stands at the top of the driveway and is now called Gabriel Hogan House.
Respect, Faith, Excellence, Compassion, Hospitality, and Simplicity, are the six core Values which underpin the Vision and Mission of St Ursula’s College. A comprehensive curriculum, with exceptional co-curricular offerings, caters for diverse learning pathways and student interests. St Ursula’s College is proud to be active within the community through a variety of service outlets. College values are acted upon, as is the commitment to serve others through ‘faith in action’.
The Queensland Presentation Congregation transferred canonical governance of St Ursula's College to Mercy Partners in June 2014. In 2018, St Ursula’s College acknowledged its centenary of educating young women with a three-day-long weekend of celebrations and a year-long commitment to ‘100 Acts of Service’.
