Mercy Partners acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional owners, the Yuggera, Turrbal, Jagera and Ugarapul People, recognising Elders past and present, on whose land we walk, work and live.
And because they are partners, their relationships rely more on the formative value of friendship and collective vision than on inflexible institutional structures.

In 2008, Mercy Partners was established as a pontifical and ministerial PJP to provide sponsorship and governance for Catholic ministries conducted by the Sisters of Mercy in Queensland.
Since the inception of Mercy Partners, the following Congregations/Orders have joined Mercy Partners.
- Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queensland (2014)
- The Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception Australia (2017)
- Sisters of Mercy Parramatta (2021)
- Sisters of Mercy North Sydney (2023)
- The Carmelite Province of Our Lady Help of Christians, Australia and Timor Leste (2024)
Today, Mercy Partners is a dynamic multi-charism, multi-ministry Public Juridic Person (PJP) dedicated to continuing the mission of the founding congregations of our ministries into the future. We work together as partners to further God’s mission of hope, compassion, respect and justice in our world.
Our Purpose
Mercy Partners was established to:
- sponsor ministries in the name of the Catholic Church
- respond compassionately and creatively to existing and emerging needs within communities
- advocate in the public forum on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged, particularly those associated with our ministries
- provide a pathway in the Catholic Church for canonical leadership of ministries by lay people.
