On Tuesday 26 April 2022, we acknowledged the 238th anniversary of Nano Nagle’s death (Nano Nagle’s Day) with the launch of the first book in our Leadership in Mission: Charism Series entitled: “Keep the Lantern Burning: Preserving, Nurturing, Reimagining the Presentation Charism.”
Nano Nagle’s charism is particularly significant to us at Mercy Partners as the Presentation Sisters of Queensland entrusted to our care their education ministries – St Rita’s College, Brisbane and St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon.
St Rita’s College, Clayfield hosted our book launch. We had a fabulous night exploring the resource and honouring Nano Nagle. Mary Franzmann pbvm, the Congregation Leader of the Queensland Presentation Sisters expressed that we the Presentation People “are grasping the baton, standing up and seeking ways to develop and nurture Presentation leadership and charism.” We hold steadfast and firm to the task entrusted to us to “Keep the Lantern Burning” and invite you to join us in doing so too.
We would like you to watch two videos we have created from the Book Launch.
The first video is an address by Dr Caroline Thompson, who compiled and wrote the resource book. Caroline took the time to walk us through the resource and to express the reality that a single book cannot hold every detail but it can aid and support you to “Keep the Lantern Burning.”
The second video includes Dr Ricki Jeffery and Sr Mary Franzmann pbvm – this heartfelt and beautiful testimony is a delight to watch and is a true call to us all to preserve, nurture and reimagine the Presentation Charism in our place at this time.
The resource will assist leaders to develop materials for:
- Staff formation
- Staff meetings
- Student retreat and reflection days
- Parent nights
- Liturgies and celebrations
- Newsletters
- Strategic planning
- Mission enhancement
- Creative projects
- Reimagining
