Welcome Monte Sant’ Angelo College
On 7 November 2023, the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney officially transitioned the governance of Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College to Mercy Partners.
Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College, or “Monte” as it is affectionately known, is a secondary day school for girls, located in North Sydney. The College has been educating and caring for young women since 1875 and continues a tradition of excellence in the Catholic tradition in the footsteps of their founders, the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney.
As the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney prepare to retire from active governance and management of Monte, they made the decision to transition the College to Mercy Partners. This transition will ensure Monte will continue to preserve its Catholicity through the living expression of Mercy heritage.
Mercy Partners have become the sole member and canonical sponsor of Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College and the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney have become a Canonical Steward of the Mercy Partners PJP. The Trustees of the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney have become an Ordinary Member of Mercy Partners Limited. Sr Loreto Conroy rsm has been appointed as the representative of both the Congregation and Trustees.
A formal handover ritual to celebrate this passing of the baton has been scheduled to take place in February 2024 once the students return for the new school year.
