November: Supporting those in need this Christmas

Brisbane and Townsville

Christmas is a time of giving and this year, giving back and helping others is more important than ever.  Many of our ministries have selected one or multiple charities to support this year through their Christmas appears.  Such initiatives include:

  • At All Hallows’ School the students have been asked to consider what Christmas must be like for families struggling to pay their rent and keep up with the ever-increasing bills. The beneficiaries of the All Hallows’ Christmas Appeal are Vinnies, the Romero Centre and Brisbane Basket Brigade.  Students and their families are asked to donate grocery items and toiletries and in turn will be donated to the selected charities to help those in need.
  • The students of Mount Alvernia College are preparing grocery hampers and have been asked to purchase a modest Christmas gift for families in their local area who are doing it tough. The hampers and gifts will be donated to St Vincent de Paul Kedron.  This charitable venture has been a special initiative of the College and has been undertaken for many years and confirms the value of the partnership the College has with St Vincent de Paul Kedron.
  • In the spirit of giving, St Patrick’s College Townsville is supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal and have invited students and families to contribute by donating items that will brighten the lives of those in need during the season of hope and joy.

The St Rita’s College community is supporting the Murri Ministry’s Christmas Appeal.  Murri  Ministry is seeking donations of non-perishable food items, Christmas decorations and toiletries.  Full details are available here
