Our Lady of Mercy College Opening School Mass

On Friday, 9 February 2024, the Our Lady of Mercy College community gathered to connect for the 2024 Opening School Mass. Father Robert Reidling led the students in prayer and encouraged the students to open their hearts and show mercy, the College’s focus value for 2024.
The College community were privileged to be joined by the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta, Sr Margaret Jones, Sr Margaret Sheppard and Patricia Bolster. Caroline Thompson from Mercy Partners was also in attendance to celebrate with students, as was Sophie Ryan, OLMC Board Member and Danielle Hayes from Mercy Works.
Principal Lucie Farrugia, in her address, encouraged the students to live out the value of Mercy throughout the year:
“We will be presented with challenges requiring us to live mercifully… take action to…support those who are suffering misery and those without the strength to right the injustices they experience. I know as a community we are up for this challenge and I welcome this for us in particular, this year our OLMC year of Mercy.”
