Formation in Action – December 2023

13 December
Mercy Partners Formation enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating with friends this week at our Thank You Afternoon Tea. We have enjoyed connecting with so many people throughout the year and feel so blessed to have you by our side.

This week Mercy Partners Formation fare welled Di Hearn as the Chair of the Formation Committee…

Dearest Di, We are truly grateful for your leadership and the positive impact you have had on each and every one of us. Your constant motivation and unwavering support has allowed us to thrive and reach new heights. Thank you for always inspiring us to give our absolute best. We love you and appreciate you today and always.

11 December
On 11 December we gathered for our Pilgrimage Powwow. We had pilgrims join us from the inaugural pilgrimage of 2019 and from our most recent pilgrimage in September 2023. We thoroughly enjoyed our discussion facilitated by Dr Joel Hodge (Head of Theology, ACU). We reminisced, shared wisdom, connected and conversed and we can’t wait to reconnect again in 2024.

What an honour and privilege for Mercy Partners Formation to be with the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception at Kedron as they joyously celebrated the 150th anniversary of their founding. Their mission, rooted in the Franciscan tradition of St. Francis and St. Clare, is to spread the boundless love of the Gospel to those who need it most. Through their tireless efforts, the Sisters have embraced the charism of peacemaking, hospitality, and compassion, touching the lives of countless individuals. Their unwavering commitment to building welcoming and inclusive communities, united in service to the poor, serves as an inspiration to all. Together, they are a shining beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a brighter and more compassionate world.

Mercy Partners Formation spread Christmas cheer with “A Very Franciscan Christmas” mini-Advent Retreats. We held 11 retreats in Sydney, Townsville, Brisbane, Rockhampton and Yeppoon. Eight hundred years ago, St. Francis of Assisi arranged the re-enactment of the Nativity for the people of Greccio, in the Rieti Valley of Italy. On Christmas in 1223, St Francis brought the people of Rieti and neighbouring villages together to celebrate the birth of Christ – a marvellous vision that still inspires and delights us today.
