Our Lady of Mercy College Bake Off

18 November, Parramatta
Talented students from Our Lady of Mercy College baked up some deliciously festive creations for the College’s Christmas themed competition! The cakes were judged on their appearance, with bonus points for those who incorporated Larry the Lorax, our SRC Mascot.

The wonderful cakes were then sold through a raffle, with all funds raised supporting Mercy Works Christmas Appeal.

All Hallows’ awarded ‘Organisation with a Heart Award’

16 November, Brisbane
All Hallows’ School was recently deeply honoured to receive the ‘Organisation with a Heart Award’ in recognition of their ongoing support for refugees and asylum seekers through the Romero Centre.

This prestigious award celebrates the school’s contributions, including the donation of Kitty’s Room Home Starter Kits, food donations for their pantry, and larger fundraising initiatives through various whole school projects.

This year, the school’s collective efforts raised an impressive $50,000! These funds will enable 25 individuals to access the Romero Centre’s Gateways to Employment program, making a significant impact on their lives.

The award truly highlights the compassion and dedication of the school community.

Supporting Mater’s tiniest patients

12 November, Brisbane
A 95-year-old Queensland great-grandma is helping put smiles on Mater’s tiniest patients, thanks to her knack for knitting.  Valma Jacobsen donates colourful knitted teddies to Mater Pathology’s Moggill collection centre to ease anxiety amongst child patients while also “keeping her hands busy”.  “Knowing I can bring some comfort to a small child when they are having a blood test is really special,” Mrs Jacobsen said.

St Patrick’s College pauses for Remembrance Day

11 November, Townsville
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, St Patrick’s College community paused to reflect and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The 2025 College Prefects and Defence students attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at ANZAC Park.

7News Townsville dropped in on the College’s Remembrance Day celebrations and spoke to some students about their personal connection to Remembrance Day.

Whitefriars College honouring Remembrance Day

11 November, Melbourne
Whitefriars College came together for Remembrance Day which was led by the 2025 College Captains.  The school community gathered in quiet reverence and prayer to honour those who served and sacrificed.

Under a sky softened by the morning light, the College community stood together, humbled by the weight of history and united by remembrance.

Mount Alvernia is reducing waste and leading change

8 November, Brisbane
The Mount Alvernia College dedicated Lord Mayor’s Youth Environmental Leaders Network (LMYELN) representatives — Imogen, Milla, and Gemma — recently took the stage at Brisbane City Hall to present their impactful sustainability project at the LMYELN Graduation Showcase.

This year, the LMYELN representatives organised an inter-house competition focused on reducing landfill waste and improving recycling awareness across the school community.

St Rita’s Student Entrepreneurs Give Back

7 November, Brisbane
St Rita’ College Year 10 Accounting and Entrepreneurship students recently held a lunchtime Trade Fair for their entrepreneurship assessment. Each student was loaned $20 as start-up capital to create their business.

The disco-themed stalls attracted a great turnout from the school community. The students had 56 stalls selling sweet and savory treats, handmade goods, and carnival games, with all profits donated to charity.

Mount Alvernia connects with Country

Imagine standing in the Bunya Mountains, learning first-hand about the deep cultural significance these lands hold for Traditional Custodians. Recently, six Mount Alvernia College students visited the Bunya Mountains and learnt first-hand about the deep cultural significance of the lands during an unforgettable immersion at the Bonye Biar (Bunya Mountains) Bush University and the Ration Shed in Cherbourg.

This unique journey provided rich insights into First Nations history and the vibrant Cherbourg community. Offered every two years, this powerful experience embodies the College’s commitment to truth-telling, reconciliation, and celebrating First Nations cultures.

Everyone’s Active at Our Lady of Mercy College

5 November, Parramatta
Our Lady of Mercy College Year 9 PASS students had the opportunity to explore the unit “Everyone’s Active,” focusing on accessible sports for people with disabilities. They learned about the challenges faced by this community so that they can advocate for ways to make sports more accessible.

The class welcomed Rick Engles from Wheelchair Sports NSW, who shared his inspiring journey as a wheelchair athlete. After his talk, students enjoyed a 90-minute Wheelchair AFL session, gaining valuable insight into the experience of being in a wheelchair. It was a fun and eye-opening day!

Monte launches the Red Bench Project

4 November, North Sydney
Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College recently launched the Red Bench Project to raise awareness of domestic violence.  This bench stands as a point of reflection for those impacted by domestic violence and calls us to “Change the Ending”.

This project was organised in partnership with Monte’s Mercy Action Group and Red Rose Foundation.
