Patricia Bergin

Mercy Partners is delighted to welcome a new Board Director, Patricia Bergin. 

Patricia is based in Melbourne and has extensive governance experience as a Chair/Director of a number of Church ministry boards.  Patricia also has a strong knowledge of the education sector and is committed to the church and its works.  You can read Patricia’s full bio on our website.

Fr Paul Cahill O.Carm.

On 18 April 2024 Mercy Partners welcomed a new Steward Representative, Fr Paul Cahill O.Carm. 

Fr Paul is the representative for the Carmelite Province of Our Lady Help of Christians, Australia and Timor-Leste, who are the founding Order of Whitefriars College who transitioned to Mercy Partners on 18 April.  You can read Fr Paul’s full bio on our website

Ministry Board Updates

Over the last three months, the Board of Mercy Partners as the sole member of its ministries, have discerned and approved the following new ministry Board appointments.

  • St Patrick’s College Townsville – Ian Bowrey
  • St Rita’s College – Gavin Johns
  • Mercy Community – Suzanne Greenwood

In addition, the Mercy Partners Board acknowledges and thanks the following ministry Board Directors who have kindly agreed to extend their tenures on the respective ministry Boards over the last three months.

  • St Rita’s College – Peter Selwood, Catherine Dunbar

Thank You

On 10 April 2024, the Chair of Mater Health Group, Patrick Brady, visited the Mercy Partners office and presented the Mercy Partners Board with a beautiful, framed Reconciliation artwork titled, The Heart to Heal, the Strength to Grow, created by David Williams of Bilimbaa.  This artwork was commissioned by the Mater and represents the Mater’s commitment to reconciliation.

Libby Blom

Mercy Partners’ Formation Manager, Libby Blom has been selected as one of ten women who will form the fourth cohort of the Mercy International Association’s Mercy Global Action Emerging Leaders Fellowship (MELF) 2024-25. The MELF Program is grounded in the three pillars of Justice, Leadership and Mercy, and uplifts women to become transformative feminist leaders who empower others, enable creativity, and facilitate mobilization around the collective goals of Mercy.  Congratulations Libby!

Catherine O’Kane

The Principal of All Hallows’ School, Catherine O’Kane, was nominated for the Zonta Club of Brisbane Advancement of Women Award and honoured to be one of the four short-listed finalists. This award recognises a person who, through their leadership work or advocacy, is progressing the status of women by either creating new pathways for women, facilitating women’s advancement along existing pathways, or advancing the interests of women through other endeavours in social, community, economic, academic, political or work environments. Congratulations Catherine!
