Mercy Partners received over 25 expressions of interest to participate in this year’s Well-Lit Path pilgrimage to Italy and Ireland. The Mercy Partners Board has confirmed 18 pilgrims to attend the pilgrimage which begins on Tuesday 19 September and concludes on Saturday 30 September 2023.
Mercy Partners Formation will lead the pilgrimage which focuses on all three foundational charisms – Mercy, Presentation and Franciscan.
Mercy Partners Formation pilgrimages will be held biennially to ensure that all leaders within Mercy Partners have the opportunity to participate. Please note we are proposing a 2024 pilgrimage as we had such an influx of interest due to the four year wait between our inaugural pilgrimage (2019) and this year’s pilgrimage.
The proposed dates would look something like this over the next three years:
April (Easter/Spring) or September/October (Autumn) 2024
April (Easter/Spring) or September/October (Autumn) 2025
April (Easter/Spring) or September/October (Autumn) 2027
We have opened the Expression of Interest for the proposed 2024 pilgrimage. We would like to ensure the pilgrimage size is less than this year’s 2023 group size as it has resulted in some accommodation and transport challenges.
In the interests of leadership succession, consideration has been given to training others as pilgrimage leaders and in April this year, Libby Blom did her on the spot training as we walked the path of St Francis, Nano Nagle and Catherine McAuley.
