Assembly of Catholic Professionals Luncheon

Board Directors from Mercy Partners, Les Jones, Cath Bartolo and Cath Parker joined representatives from Mercy Partners ministries (Holy Cross Services, Mater Health Group, Mercy Community, Mount Alvernia College and St Rita’s College) and connected with the wider Catholic community at the Assembly of Catholic Professionals luncheon on 18 April. The guest speaker at the luncheon was Jason Eldering, who shared his story of gratitude and faith from his beginnings as a PGA golfer and golf coach to CEO of Southern Cross Care where he advocates for aged care reform.

As part of the governance Mercy Partners undertakes with its ministries, it is responsible for chairing each ministry’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). April was another busy month with three AGMs scheduled – Mount Alvernia College, St Rita’s College and St Ursula’s College.
The Mount Alvernia College AGM was held in Brisbane on 17 April and was chaired by Lee Anne Perry. Then on 24 April there were two AGMs held parallel – St Rita’s College in Brisbane and chaired by Lee Anne Perry and St Ursula’s College AGM that was chaired by Cath Parker.
The Mercy Partners Board Directors always enjoying chairing the ministry AGMS as it provides them with an additional opportunity during the year to connect with the ministry Boards.
Mater Mackay opens their perioperative theatre expansion

On 12 April 2024 Mater Private Hospital Mackay held the official blessing and opening of their new perioperative theatre expansion, that was officiated by the Most Reverend Michael McCarthy, Bishop of the Diocese of Rockhampton.
The expansion includes the construction of a sixth perioperative theatre, new sterile storage area, and upgraded patient waiting and recovery areas to future proof the hospital and increase capacity for clinicians and patients alike.
The expansion was made possible by community fundraising conducted by the Mater Foundation and the Mackay Mater Auxiliary and will benefit the local Mackay community through increased surgical capacity.
Mercy Partners Board Director, Les Jones, joined Mater representatives and local community partners at the blessing and opening and enjoyed a tour of the expanded perioperative theatres.
