Mercy Alliance Online Formation Session
15 June, Online
In June, members of the Mercy Partners Board along with our CEO and Director of Formation, took part in a Mercy Alliance Online Formation session, joining colleagues from across the network to hear from Pip McIlroy, Group Director of Mission and Pastoral Care at Mercy Health Australia. Pip invited participants to explore contemporary approaches to mission discernment and their relevance for today’s governance and leadership contexts.
Drawing on her extensive experience, Pip reflected on the practice of discernment as a thoughtful and Spirit-led approach to decision-making, particularly amid the pressures and busyness of organisational life. She offered practical insights and guiding principles to strengthen leaders’ confidence in making well-considered decisions that are deeply aligned with organisational purpose, values, and mission.
Mercy Partners representatives found the session both engaging and thought provoking and look forward to putting Pip’s insights into practice as they continue to strengthen their approach to discernment in governance and leadership.

At the June celebration, Mercy Partners Board Directors Cath Bartolo and Cheryl Caughley, together with Director of Formation Kate Garrone, joined the Holy Cross team to honour the commitment and dedication of two long-serving employees. Jasvir was recognised for 10 years of service, while Rosalita celebrated an extraordinary 40 years with Holy Cross Services.
