Providing a holistic Catholic education and residential environment through which young women are encouraged to realise their potential.

Vision Statement excerpt

St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, is the only all Girls Catholic Boarding and Day Secondary School in Central Queensland. Founded in 1918 by the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM), St Ursula’s offers an education for young women of the future based on gospel values and Nano Nagle’s vision, legacy, and charism. The strength of the St Ursula’s ‘sisterhood’ is attributed to the prominence of the College values – Faith, Excellence, Respect, Hospitality, Simplicity, and Compassion – in everyday campus life.

In 1917, a two-storey convent in Queen Street, Yeppoon, was officially opened with St Joseph’s Primary School on the Ground floor. Within the next 12 months, the need for specialised education for young women became apparent and, on 12 March 1918, St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, came into being, with 32 students in attendance. In June 2014, the Canonical sponsorship of the College was transferred from the Presentation Sisters to Mercy Partners.

The College continues in the Presentation tradition under the guidance of the St Ursula’s College Board and with the dedication and commitment of the Principal, College Leadership Team and staff. Over 500 students (including 95 Boarders) attend St Ursula’s College, a steady increase since its humble origins.

St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, advocates a holistic, comprehensive, faith-filled Secondary education for young women, encompassing academic and vocational pathways to tertiary study and/or employment. Four pillars for strategic goals and planning, live, love, learn, and lead, are ‘guiding lights’ that influence everyday interactions and practices in the Boarding and Day College. This dynamic culture produces strong, confident graduates, capable of forging a positive path for themselves by embracing the College motto of “Perfice Gressus Meos” (Perfect My Steps).

St Ursula’s College was entrusted to the care of Mercy Partners by the Queensland Presentation Sisters on 12 June 2014.
