St Ursula’s College is guided by faith, building hope and love

15 February, Yeppoon
Led by Capricorn Coast Parish Priest, Fr Stephen Hanly, the College celebrated their 2025 Welcome Mass. The College theme for 2025 is ‘Guided by Faith, Building Hope and Love’. St Ursula’s College Captains asked students “to trust, hope, and believe in possibilities beyond what we can see. Faith in God is the voice that encourages us when we face challenges, the light that guides us through uncertainty, and the strength that propels us toward our goals”.

All Year 7s and new students to the College were commissioned with the gift of lanterns, an enduring symbol of the light that Nano Nagle – Founder of the Presentation Order – shone for those on the margins of society, hundreds of years ago in Ireland. As a College established by the Presentation Sisters, St Ursula’s is deeply committed to continuing the legacy and charism of Nano Nagle.

All Hallows’ is Bound by Blue

10 February, Brisbane
The All Hallows’ School 2025 spirit theme is Bound By Blue.

In 2025, All Hallows’ celebrates the 100th anniversary of their Past Pupils’ Association, reminding the students that once an AHS sister, always an AHS sister. That bond doesn’t fade when the students step outside the green gates; it’s something they carry and choose to strengthen.

The students are connected by 8 Houses and 164 years of history.

Being “Bound by Blue” isn’t just about the badge the students wear; it’s about their choices. They are a school with so much spirit, but spirit isn’t just about energy and enthusiasm—it’s the way they show up for each other, the way they “Ignite Hope with a Compassionate Heart.”

No matter where the students go or how far they travel beyond the school gates, the students are never truly alone – they are BOUND BY BLUE.

Mater Private Children’s Hospital transforms boy’s life

5 February, Brisbane
Emrys Beckman is too young to comprehend the gruelling three-hour surgery he underwent at Mater Private Children’s Brisbane, but he has a “battle scar” across his scalp to prove it.

The 12-month-old was born with craniosynostosis, meaning the bones in his head were fused together, leaving no space for his brain to grow.

Mater neurosurgeon Dr Robert Campbell and plastic surgeon Dr Richard Theile successfully transformed Emrys’ skull shape and said most babies who receive timely craniosynostosis treatment go on to lead healthy lives.
